Bucks Still GM-Less as Draft Draws Closer

on

With just eight days until the 2017 NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks remain without a General Manager.

Assistant GM Justin Zanik, a finalist for the position, has been handling the GM duties since the departure of John Hammond. Originally hired as the “GM-in waiting”, it was assumed that Zanik would have a smooth transition into the job once Hammond decided to leave.

Last week, Zanik, Arturas Karnisovas (Denver), and Wes Wilcox (Atlanta) were deemed the three finalists for the position, but earlier today Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical announced that Karnisovas had accepted a promotion to become Denver’s General Manager, eliminating him from Milwaukee’s search.

ESPN’s Marc Stein indicated Monday afternoon via Twitter that the Bucks were planning on choosing between Zanik and Karnisovas, leaving Wilcox out of the mix. With Karnisovas now off the table, Wilcox may reappear on Milwaukee’s radar, but it becomes increasingly likely that Zanik will be offered the position.
