Change of Scenery

In the NBA there are always players that fans feel talent is being wasted on certain teams, a player that shows potential to do big things if he is placed in a better situation. We always wonder what would have happened if that certain player landed on a better team, let’s take a look at ten players that need a change of scenery and which team would be best suited for their talents.

DeMarcus Cousins
Boogie is the player whose name comes to mind when you think of talent that needs a change of scenery. Cousins is one of the best Centers in the NBA, he is currently tied for 3rd in the league in scoring with 27 points per game, while averaging 11 rebounds. But his efforts are basically being wasted, the Kings are 24-33 and are not looking much like a playoff threat. Cousins needs a fresh start and a team that is ready to compete and are in need of his skill set.
Best Destination(s): Memphis Grizzlies/Washington Wizards/LA Lakers

Carmelo Anthony
It is hard to feel bad for Melo, the Chicago Bulls courted him, the Rockets courted him and even Miami had some preliminary talks with him, but in the end he chose to stay in New York even though it was obvious that they were in a rebuild. Anthony may be one of the best scorers in the NBA but it is all for nothing, the Knicks are once again at the bottom of the East while Melo is averaging 21 points 8 rebounds and 4 assist. Any team missing a scorer would love to have him.
Best Destination(s): LA Clippers/Boston Celtics/Chicago Bulls

Dennis Schroeder
Rumors swirled that Schroeder would possibly be moved before the deadline but no deals were made, he is averaging 11 points, 4 assists and 2 rebounds per game this season. He has shown flashes of being a solid starting guard option with great court vision.
Best Destination(s): Houston Rockets/New York Knicks

Gordon Hayward
One of the most obvious choices for players that have a high level of talent that is pretty much being wasted. This season he is averaging 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, while averaging 36% from behind the arc. The Jazz are 29-33 and their playoff chances are slim, Hayward would be a great addition to any team that is contending.
Best Destination(s): Atlanta Hawks/Charlotte Hornets/Portland Trailblazers

Al Jefferson
Often considered as playing in the wrong era, Al Jefferson has the style of play you look for in a big man. He has a career average of 16 points and 9 rebounds, and plays to the true grind it out fashion in the paint.
Best Destination(s): Memphis Grizzlies

Kenneth Faried
Faried has been stuck in flux in Denver, he has the ability to assist a team to win but Denver has been stuck in rebuild mode with no end in sight. Athletic, hungry, and has a high motor, any team would love to have him and his 12 points, 9 rebounds per game average.
Best Destination(s): Boston Celtics/Chicago Bulls

Brook Lopez
Brook Lopez is often regarded for his high offensive skill set, this season he is quietly averaging 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game, all while the Nets are destined for the lottery. He can help any team that is one piece away.
Best Destination(s): Cleveland Cavs/San Antonio Spurs

OJ Mayo
A team in need of a skilled player off the bench could use the services of OJ Mayo. A career 37% shooter from behind the arc, and a career average of 13 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game. OJ would upgrade any team in the league’s bench.
Best Destination(s): Washington Wizards/LA Clippers

Nikola Vucevic
Vucevic is the starting Center for the Orlando Magic, he is averaging 17 points and 9 rebounds this season but the Magic are 27-34 and looking as if they will miss the playoffs once again. His skill set is one that teams that are in contention could use.
Best Destination(s): Boston Celtics/Toronto Raptors

Nerlens Noel
Young talent that is currently residing in the NBA’s abyss known as Philadelphia. It may seem harsh but it is the reality, the Sixers seem to be stuck in rebuild mode for the last 5 years and now with a trio of young bigs that each could be on the list. Noel is currently averaging 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game, the numbers may not jump off the screen but with the right team he could flourish.
Best Destination(s): Cleveland Cavs/Washington Wizards/OKC Thunder

Honorable Mention: Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, Russel Westbrook, Al Horford, LeBron James (Just kidding)
