Charlotte Hornets to Unveil New Uniforms

on

While the NBA action takes a break this off-season, at least on the court, the off-court action runs rampant. We are still anticipating player news, but lately the headlines surrounded teams gearing up for the new uniform takeover by Nike for the 2017-18 season.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been given a first look at a few teams including the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Oklahoma City Thunder, Indiana Pacers and Portland Trail Blazers. We’ve seen a potential leaks for the Brooklyn Nets, Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers, but none of these have been confirmed as of yet.

The latest NBA franchise to show off their new threads will be the Charlotte Hornets who, around the same time the Nets jersey leaked, had one of their own potential leaks reach the public. The picture appears to be the setting of a photo-shoot and oddly enough reveals the Hornets potential “Throwback” option or what Nike refers to their new uniform concept’s as the “Classic Edition”.

Also this season, eight NBA teams will have a Classic Edition uniform that will be available in the fall. The Classic Edition celebrates some of the most iconic uniforms in league history and can be worn at each team’s discretion.

So what have the Hornets revealed so far?

Other than the possible return of the Larry Johnson/Baron Davis era Hornets jersey, Charlotte will stand alone as the only team in the league to have a different sponsor other than Nike sported on their jersey.

The Hornets will instead emblazon the silhouette of their owner, Michael Jordan. Unless you didn’t know already, Jordan Brand is owned by Nike which is why this is allowed by all parties involved.

Charlotte plans to reveal their new uniforms on their mobile team app on Monday. Unless they go off script, don’t expect any other uniforms to be shown other than the ‘Home’ (Association) and ‘Away’ (Icon) versions.
