Hot and Cold Kings Fall to Lakers

on

Several hot streaks followed by ice cold slumps condemned the Sacramento Kings to a loss against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday 99-86.

The Lakers held the advantage early on, using the Kings’ mistakes and turnovers to jump out to a 22-6 lead. However, the Kings surged back into contention near the end of the quarter to make it 31-27. De’Aaron Fox led the way with 10 points as he continues to improve post-injury.

Neither team pulled out much of an advantage during the 2nd quarter with the gap between 2 and 10 points. Bogdan Bogdanovic was the star man for the Kings this quarter, racking up 14 points and 2 assists. However Los Angeles held on to take a one point advantage into halftime.

The Kings came out swinging in the 2nd half, going on a 12-3 run to take the lead three minutes in. LA had a swift response, outscoring Sacramento 22-5 in the next six minutes to pull back in front. Sacramento’s shooting percentage dipped to 39% over this stretch as they struggled to knock down shots.

Julius Randle and Brook Lopez emerged as the focal points of the Lakers offense with 22 and 18 points respectively. Lonzo Ball did not have a good night shooting (2 of 10, 5 points) but still contributed with 11 rebounds and 11 assists. The Kings were not able to generate another run and suffered their 2nd consecutive defeat with a 99-86 loss.

Bogdanovic finished as the Kings top scorer with 19 points while Zach Randolph hauled in 12 rebounds. Sacramento’s next game will be at home against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday.
