Kelly Olynyk Agrees to Deal With Heat

Boston Celtics free agent C Kelly Olynyk has agreed to a four-year, $50 million contract with the Miami Heat, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN announced via Twitter.

Boston was planning to re-sign the restricted free agent, but after learning that Gordon Hayward wanted to come to beantown, they rescinded Olynyk’s qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent.

This acquisition adds depth to Miami’s frontcourt, and will likely feature an Olynyk/Whiteside one-two punch lineup.

In four seasons with the Celtics, Olynyk averaged 9.5 points (48% FG, 37% 3Pt, 74% FT), 4.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists over 20.7 minutes per game.

After losing out on the Gordon Hayward sweepstakes, the Heat re-signed SG Dion Waters and SF James Johnson in addition to Olynyk. Miami appears to be back in the Eastern conference playoff hunt with these moves and if they are able to stay healthy, they could be a very difficult team to deal with out east.
