Kings Fall To Wizards After Strong First Quarter

on

After jumping out to a 32-25 lead in the first quarter, the Kings struggled the rest of the game and eventually lost to the Wizards 110-92. This marks Sacramento’s sixth straight road loss.

Unlike previous games this season, the Sacramento starters came out of the gates firing. George Hill had 13 points in the first quarter of what ended up being his best game of the season. Zach Randolph added seven points in that quarter and the Kings went 4/4 from downtown.

The first quarter, however, was really the only bright spot for Sacramento. Washington bullied the Kings for the next three quarters and outscored Sacramento 85-60 over the final three minutes. John Wall led the way for Washington with 21 points, while Marcin Gortat added 18 points and seven rebounds.

Sacramento struggles with boxing out continued and gave up way too many easy offensive rebounds to Washington. This often resulted from a general lethargy that has plagued the second unit.

Hill paced the Kings in scoring with 16, while Buddy Hield dropped 12 off the bench. Sacramento falls to 3-10 on the season and finish their road-trip in Atlanta on Wednesday.
