Milwaukee Bucks Host Hometown Prospects for Pre-Draft Workouts

As we move closer and closer to the draft, we here at BUCKSLEAD noticed that the Milwaukee Bucks were working out a few hometown players. Here is a quick list of the five Wisconsinites that worked out with the Bucks:

       1. Zak Showalter

Pretty much everyone in the state knows Zak from his four years at Wisconsin and knows what he brings to the table. Zak is a 6’ 3”, 185 lbs, guard out of Germantown, WI and averaged 8.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists his senior season. While his production wasn’t the greatest Zak after his workout said he would bring heart to the team and compared himself to current Bucks guard Matthew Dellavedova.

2. Bronson Koenig

Koenig, another Badger, hails from La Crosse, WI and was given the opportunity to workout with the Milwaukee Bucks. His four years at Wisconsin allowed him the time to play alongside two current NBA players (Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker), along with allowing Koenig to prove he has the clutch gene in big games during the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately during the workout, Koenig rolled his right ankle (after rolling the same ankle just a month earlier) and was unable to finish. During his senior season Koenig a 6’ 3” 190 lbs, Guard, averaged 14.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2 assists per game his senior season.

3. Ty Sabin

Ty is a 6’ 2” 190 lbs guard from New Berlin, WI who played four years at Ripon College (also in WI). Sabin showed he could ball in the D3 league averaging 30.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists his senior season. While these stats could be inflated due to a lack of competition, averaging 30 points a game for a whole season is still impressive.

4. Matt Thomas

Thomas comes to the Bucks from the small town of Onalaska, WI. The 6’ 5” 193 lbs guard, averaged 12.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game at Iowa State in his last year. Thomas also impressively shot and average 40% from beyond the arc (something the Bucks are looking for).

     5. Luke Fisher

Luke Fisher is a Marquette grad who hails from Germantown, WI. Luke, the 6’ 11” 250 lbs Center, averaged 10.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. The center averaged at or above 60% from the field and averaged 61% from the free throw line over his three year career at Marquette.

We will find out on Thursday if one of these five gentlemen showed enough to get selected into the NBA. If not, however, we could see them lace it up in Oshkosh for the newly created Wisconsin Herd.
